Red Wine

CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2007
This vintage, drought-affected and low yielding, has produced a wonderful ruby colour and varietal flavour. The ripening period was warm and dry; the grapes were handpicked by our regular crew of family and locals much earlier than the usual February 22nd, then traditionally open fermented.

Cellaring potential 8 years, if you can wait!

CABERNETSAUVIGNON 2003 - VINTAGE RESERVE
Our reds are generally released at 1–2 years, and, no doubt, most are consumed well before reaching their full potential.

As 2003 was a drought-affected, low yielding vintage, we decided to cellar the Cabernet Sauvignon's whole vintage for 6 years; now releasing in 2009.
The wine has achieved a luscious palate, mature mouth-feel, overprinted by surprisingly strong, young and fresh Cabernet rose.

Great to drink now but could cellar till 2013.

PINOT NOIR 2008
This year's Pinot responded magnificently to the welcome spring rain, followed by a mild and dry ripening period.

The grapes were handpicked and immediately started in open fermentation. As usual we have given only limited time in Oak, so as to highlight the distinctive Pinot nose and palate.

Ready to drink upon release, but would cellar well for 5 years.

ALFRESCO RED 2008
We chose Shiraz again as the base for this "light red".

The lower alcohol makes it ideal for lunchtime, or drinking and sharing with friends anytime, anywhere.

Commitment to the environment and organic growing by Michael and Jan is reflected in this luscious easy drinking red.

SHIRAZ 2007
This Shiraz was grown on our daughter Kim’s block, managed under our ACO’S certification. The intense colour and fruitiness is a product of a preceding and otherwise horrible drought, yields were down by 75%. The grapes were hand picked by our regular squad, much earlier than usual, on February 9th 2007.

Cellaring potential 8 years, if you can wait!

VINTAGE PORT
We named the luscious Shiraz based Vintage Port in belated honour of Father James Dunphy, who lost his life aged 30 years, June 17th 1845, when swept off his horse attempting to cross the flooded Cudgegong River at the present location of our Martins Hill Vineyard.

Fr. Dunphy was at the end of a four day ride from the settlement of Hartley, Western edge of the Blue Mountains, to administer Last Rites to a parishioner.

To His Memory.

"Caring for your health...and the environment."
